Pilates for Back Care
with Patty
Our Pilates programme, tailored for back care, targets the well-being of your spine's supportive muscles and those delicate joints that require special attention for a strong and pain-free back.
Beyond the gift of back health, Pilates offers many advantages, including improvements in posture, muscle tone, balance, and joint mobility while helping you release stress and tension.
Every session commences with standing stretches to awaken your body gently. You'll progress through exercises on your back, side, and front, transitioning to positions on hands and knees and, finally, seated. As we conclude, you'll stand and indulge in a full-body stretch, preparing you to savour the rest of your day. We supply essential equipment, such as resistance bands and overballs, to facilitate your practice.
Our compassionate instructor is your partner on this journey, ready to offer guidance, support, and alternative exercises should you ever feel uncomfortable or have unique needs. Your well-being is paramount, so feel free to connect with the teacher for any concerns or questions. Let's embark on this nurturing path to back health together!

Week 1
Finding your core with resistance
You will learn or be reminded of the Pilates breathing techniques and the neutral body alignment to help make the exercises more efficient and find your Core whilst you also develop the understanding of the quality and controlled movements to increase body awareness in each of the exercises. We will be using resistance equipment.
Week 2
Isolation of movements and understanding your range of movement.
With practice and focus, you will learn and feel the movement in the desired place. You will also concentrate on keeping the rest of the body quiet as you breathe and control your movements, promoting a challenging range of movements and improving your coordination.
Week 3
Dynamic Alignment and Flexibility
Going further with your understanding of your body and its movements, this week will focus on moving whilst you maintain neutral alignment, feeling the movement and knowing when you need to stop and go back. We will modify exercises according to your ability.
Week 4
Postural Control and gravity
We will keep practicing exercises focused on movement quality to gain equal muscle strength and work with the opposition to gravity and how this affects our postural alignment.
Week 5
Adaptations and progression
We will practice previous sequences and progress to more challenging exercises, ensuring individual flexibility and physical ability whilst you use the previous knowledge to create more flowing and controlled movements.
Week 6
Advanced balance and review
In the final week, we will challenge your balance whilst practicing different exercises learnt from the basic exercises to the advanced repertoire; we will review if necessary to make sure you have a full understanding of body awareness.

We have a strict latecomers policy. Latecomers will not be admitted any later than 5 minutes after the commencement of the session. Past this point, it will be disruptive for you to enter the room, and since you will not have warmed up properly, heading into class this late may also be damaging for your body. We recommend you arrive 5-10 minutes early so the class and your day can run on time.

Cancellations within 72 hours of the course starting will not be refunded.
Cancellations outside of 72 hours of the course start will be refunded upon request, otherwise, the passes can be transferred to another course (or a later cohort of the cancelled course).
There is no refund offered for missed sessions within the course.
If we are required to cancel a class due to teacher illness, we will offer a make-up session the week following the last session of the course.
The teacher may choose to cancel a course if a low number of people sign up. Please book in as early as you can to stop this from happening! Your pass will automatically be returned to your Mindbody account in this incidence. You can request a refund if you want one, otherwise, the passes can be transferred to another course (or a later cohort of the cancelled course).
