Traditional acupuncture is a tried and tested system of complementary medicine to restore, promote and maintain good health. It is especially helpful for female health.
Traditional acupuncture is a tried and tested system of complementary medicine used in China for thousands of years to restore, promote and maintain good health. It is based on the understanding that the body's vital energy (known as Qi) moves through a network of channels beneath the skin. When the flow of this energy becomes blocked, depleted or disturbed, it can cause a range of physical or emotional symptoms and ailments. Acupuncturists insert very fine, sterile needles into specific points on the body to rebalance and regulate the flow of Qi and promote healing.
Why consider acupuncture?
Some people turn to acupuncture for help with a specific symptom or condition or because they feel generally unwell but have no obvious diagnosis. Others choose to have treatment to help maintain good health, strengthen the constitution to help prevent illness or enhance their feeling of well-being.
All treatments are holistic and individualised and are aimed at the root of the condition. Beyond treating symptoms, the focus is optimising overall vitality and quality of life.
Acupuncture treatment is safe and effective for all ages and everyone. It can be used alongside ongoing conventional medical treatments.
Because traditional acupuncture aims to treat the whole person rather than specific symptoms in isolation, it can be effective for a range of conditions. It is equally well-suited for both chronic and acute conditions, such as:
Pain relief
Musculoskeletal Complaints
Migraines & Headaches
Skin Conditions
Sleep Disorders
Stress & Anxiety
Arthritis
Circulatory Problems
Fatigue (chronic or otherwise)
Regular treatment can reduce and often alleviate debilitating symptoms and promote physical and emotional wellbeing. Acupuncture stimulates the nervous system, influencing the production of hormones and neurotransmitters and by activating the body’s self-regulating homeostatic systems, it stimulates the body’s own healing abilities.

The Consultation
The initial consultation and treatment takes approximately 45-60 minutes in our clinic in South East London. At the first treatment, a full case history is taken, which covers health topics such as mobility, sleep, emotions, diet, pain and energy levels. Your pulse will be taken to gauge your energy flow. All this will help identify any imbalances in the body and inform an individualised treatment plan that not only treats the symptoms you are presenting with but also is aimed at the root of your condition. This approach helps resolve your main health complaint, create harmony in the body and mind, and enhance your overall well-being.
For best and lasting results, the patient and therapist work together on a tailored plan of action, which may include some aspects of lifestyle, from stress management to dietary advice.
